Newport Police Summons Sex Offender for Failure to Comply
Category 2 Offender Timothy Edward Souliere Moved Back to Vermont from Out of State, Failed to Notify the State
NEWPORT — Chief Seth DiSanto reports that the Newport Police Department has summonsed a sex offender to court after he moved back to Vermont from Arizona and failed to register his new address.
TIMOTHY EDWARD SOULIERE, AGE 55, OF BROWNINGTON was charged with Failure to Comply with the Vermont Sex Offender Registry and was issued a citation to appear in Orleans County Superior Court. He appeared and pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
Newport police learned on Aug. 23 that SOULIERE, who had been convicted on January 2, 2003 in Arizona of Attempted Sexual Assault and on May 21, 1993, in Orleans Superior Court of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct (Docket # 616-9-91) which requires that Souliere register as a sex offender had moved back to Vermont from Arizona.
The department also learned that he had not contacted the Vermont Sex Offender Registry to notify authorities of his return to Vermont.
As conditions of his release following his appearance, SOULIERE was ordered to obey a nightly curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., keep the court and his attorney apprised of any changes to his address and to appear at all future court dates.
