Arlington Police Cite Driver After Oversized Truck Crashes into Low Bridge
ARLINGTON — Chief Fred Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department cited a driver yesterday evening after his overheight rental truck collided with a bridge.
Arlington Police responded to Grove Street at approximately 6:15 p.m. and, upon arriving, observed a rental truck stopped with a large debris field behind it. There were no injuries.
The driver, a 29-year-old Stoughton man, was cited for Operating to Endanger.
An initial investigation revealed that the box truck was headed northbound on Grove Street when it collided with the underside of the bridge, causing its roof to be sheared off and the road to be temporarily closed as the debris was removed. The truck was empty at the time of the crash.
The Arlington Fire Department and Town Engineer also responded to the scene and determined the bridge was not damaged in the crash.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
